Firefighters rescued a man stuck in the mud in St Lawrence Bay yesterday morning.
The service was called and sent three engines at 7.53am after the man, in his 40s, became stuck about 100 metres from the shore at Waterside Holiday Park off Main Road.
Crews freed him by 9am and he was placed in the care of the ambulance service.
He was taken to Broomfield Hospital and at this stage the extent of his injuries are not known.
The case mirrors that of Natasha Layley, a 14-year-old who spent two and a half hours in the mud in Hythe Quay, Maldon, when she pierced her leg on a seven-inch rusty knife last August.
