Centre-back Dean Wells has left Braintree Town for a shot at a Football League career with Stevenage - and two other key Iron men are also heading for the exit door.
Wells, who has made 120 appearances, moves to Broadhall Way for an initial fee of £25,000, with further payments dependent on the success of Borough, who were relegated to League Two last season.
Wells told the Iron's official website: "Thanks for the way the club have looked after me for the past three years.
"I wish you all the best in the future as Braintree is a great club with great fans.
"I will miss you all from the bottom of my heart."
Manager Alan Devonshire added: "I've worked with Deano for nine years now and when he wanted to take this chance at playing in the League we felt we couldn't stand in his way, so long as the deal was right for the club."
As well as losing Wells, the Conference side are also set to see Dan Holman and Dan Sparkes move on.
Both are out of contract and have not accepted the deals offered to them by the Iron.
However, because of their age, both winger Sparkes and striker Holman will need their new clubs to pay a fee to the Cressing Road outfit.
But there is some good news for the Iron as full-back Sam Habergham has extended his deal and goalkeeper Nathan McDonald has also indicated that he will return for next season.
