A BRAINTREE man arrested on suspicion of rape in a Basildon nightclub has been released without charge.
A 20-year-old was arrested on on August 8 in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire last year after an alleged rape in the seating area of Liquid at Liquid at Festival Leisure Park.
An 18-year-old woman from Romford made the allegation to police of the incident on June 30 and after making enquiries the investigation has no closed.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A Braintree man who was arrested in connection with a rape allegation in a Basildon nightclub has been released.
"A then 18-year-old woman from Romford in east London had reported she was raped in a seating area behind the DJ stand between 1 to 2am on Sunday, June 30, 2013.
"On Thursday, August 8, 2013, a 20-year-old man from Braintree was arrested on suspicion of rape and later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
"These enquiries have now been completed and he has been released from his bail and without charge. The investigation is now closed."
