CREWS released a girl trapped in a locked toilet in Basildon yesterday (Thursday) - one of 17 incidents tackled during the hours of the latest strike.
As well as the girl who had to be released from a toilet in Furrowfelde after finding herself locked in there was a washing machine fire in Frinton, a crash in Wickford and a 93-year-old casualty who had collapsed in their home in Westcliff.
There was also a revisit to the scene of a field fire beside the M25 to make sure it remained safe and that no "hot spots" had developed.
The Fire Brigades Union strike took place between the hours of 10am and 7pm, the latest in a series of such strikes against changes to their pension schemes.
