Essex Police are appealing for information after a man was hit over the head with a metal bar in Tiptree.
The incident happened at around 3.30am on Thursday, July 3 somewhere between Walnut Tree Way and Almond Close.
The victim, a man in his 20s from the local area, suffered a cut to his head.
A 24-year-old man from Colchester was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until Friday, August 1.
