A man who was struck by a train at Shenfield railway station last night (July 22) was from Chelmsford, police have said.
The victim, in his 50s, died at the scene of the collision, which happened shortly before 9.30pm. The incident caused long delays for commuters heading to and from Liverpool Street via the station.
A British Transport Police spokesman said they were treating the death as non-suspicious.
Medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene
"The man's family has been informed and officers will now prepare a file for the coroner, " the spokesman added
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 10.36pm.
