A motorcyclist, believed by police to be from South Woodham Ferrers, has been killed in a crash with a car on the A132 this morning.
The 22-year-old collided with a Volkswagen Golf shortly before 8.25am. It happened while rush-hour traffic was building up on the road.
Ambulance paramedics and the air ambulance also attended to treat the motorcyclist but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 45-year-old man from Wickham Bishops has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has been taken to Chelmsford police station for questioning.
The road has now reopened.
