READERS can quiz the Chronicle team, win fantastic prizes and take home a whole host of High Street goodies at a special event this weekend.
As part of our 250th anniversary celebrations, members of our team will be in the city centre near H. Samuel, from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.
Senior editor Paul Dent-Jones said: "We're delighted that our award-winning paper, founded all those years ago by William Strupar in 1764, is still standing up to authority and giving a voice to those without one.
"But we wouldn't be here today without our loyal readers – with whom we have shared the highs, the lows, and everything else in between – and we want to say thank you."
On the day there will be the opportunity to win a number of prizes, including family tickets to the Essex Country Show in Barleylands in September.
The largest event of its type in the south east, the agricultural history, rural crafts and family entertainment weekend is now in its 28th year and will boast more than 200 trade and craft stands, helicopter riders and Peppa Pig.
Also up for grabs is a family ticket to a show at Chelmsford's Civic Theatre, while the first 250 people to come and say hello will get a free birthday cupcake.
Our mascot Presston the news hound will be dishing out goodie bags with treats from Thorntons, Tesco, Debenhams, The Body Shop, Boots and the Fragrance Shop for everyone who buys a paper.
And the Chronicle wants people to come forward with their stories and ideas on how we can make our newspapers and website even better.
"Nothing beats chatting with our loyal army of readers who give us stories to chase as well as much-appreciated feedback on the newspaper and our website," added Paul.
"It really makes a difference – we've been out in Braintree and Maldon recently and a lot of the ideas pitched to us by readers are now in action."
