Thousands of people rallied this weekend in a bid to save 3,000 ducks threatened with near certain death after their owner's dispute with a supplier left him in debt.
Animal lovers on social media responded to Chelmsford farmer Ian Chisholm's call for prospective owners on Friday by sharing his appeal.
Ian Chisholm, from the Fairtrade Egg Company, told the Essex Chronicle that the ducks may have to be killed if new homes could not be found for them, and animal lovers on social media responded by sharing pleas to re-home them.
On twitter, @laursbobbins asked "Anyone in Essex after a pet duck (or two)? Please consider helping to rescue some of these lovelies",
while @_Hix said "Could you spread the word? Duck farmer giving birds away rather than having to kill them".
The mass appeal appears to have resulted in the re-homing of a number of the animals, with several new duck owners sharing pictures and messages of their feathered friends on Facebook.
Kelly-ann Turnbull posted: "Just go down there, I did and picked some up, they are now in a small pool going crazy with excitement it's so lovely to see."
And it appears there are no more for grabs, with some people reporting that the mailbox was full, while there were no ducks in sight when they went to collect some.
Mr Chisholm had not responded to calls on the status of the ducks by Monday morning.
