The overnight work on a section of the B1389 that runs through the middle of the town and will begin in September.

The resurfacing will start at The Avenue, run along Newland Street to Freebournes Road, and as far as Colchester Road up to Crittal Road.

"Drivers are advised to plan travel and delivery arrangements accordingly and to take an alternative route where possible."

The council also says the roads will be closed while the work is underway for safety reasons and will take place between 8pm and 6am to minimise disruption.
