A FORMER dressmaker to the Queen is back volunteering at a Romford charity shop after the completion of its two-week refurbishment.

Margaret Sumpter, who used to make clothes for Her Majesty, was joined by Andrew Rosindell MP to mark the re-opening of the Saint Francis Hospice charity shop in North Street on Friday.

Margaret, from Dagenham, who taught Mr Rosindell at Marshalls Park School, has been volunteering on Tuesdays and Saturdays for almost eleven years.

"It's so much nicer in here now and hopefully this will help us raise even more money for the hospice," Margaret said after the North Street shop was re-opened after its refurbishment.

Margaret used to make clothes for the Queen when she worked for the Royal dressmaker Norman Hartnell.
