A CHELMSFORD solicitor who appeared on ITV's hit Saturday night show Take Me Out said it was a "once-in-a-lifetime experience."
Joe Stickings, 31, got a date with Edelle, from Ireland, on last week's show.
His adventure on the "Isle of Fernando", or Tenerife, will be screened this Saturday, and Joe promises it is worth watching.
"I had seen the show when I was in a relationship and thought it might be a fun thing to do when I was single," said Joe.
"The show then contacted my American football team, asking for applications, and my coach thought it would be a good laugh and good for the team.
"I was single so I applied, never thinking I would actually get accepted.
"I was terrified of a blackout, where all the girls turn their lights off. If that happened I would have had to move country or something."
In the show, one man tries to impress a handful of girls who leave their light on if they like him or turn it off they don't.
If a light is left on at the end of the round, the man has got a date.
"My friends even gave me the nickname Joe 'Lights Out' Sticks, because they were all joking that I would get a blackout."
Joe chose Dizzee Rascal's Dance With Me as his theme tune for the show as he came down the "Love Lift".
He also revealed that presenter Paddy McGuinness puts encouraging photos and messages on the inside of the love lift to instil confidence as they descend.
"On the day everything happens so quickly it is a bit of a blur, you don't even have time to look at the girls properly," Joe added.
"Both Danielle and Edelle gave really nice comments about me, and so that's why I picked those two out of the girls who left their lights on.
"I think Edelle's poem that she made up on the spot was what made me choose her.
"It was a great experience, I have made some great friends with the other boys on the show and I would do it all again if I could."
Tune in to ITV1 at 6.45pm on December 1 to see the result of Joe's date with Edelle.
