AUTUMN is well and truly upon us and in this month's column I am being controversial and daring you ladies to try investing in a pair of white stilettos.
Now I know the old American mantra is 'Nothing white after Labour Day' – Labour Day being held on the first Monday in September – and the tradition explaining that as white is a summer colour, Labour Day unofficially marks the end of summer.
Well let's go crazy and break the rules!
Essex girls once made white stilettos famous and the controversial shoe is once again back in vogue – this time literally – with Vogue giving the shoe its seal of approval.
This time they are back and bigger and badder than ever after being seen on the likes of Rihanna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The appeal is that these shoes are to be worn with attitude and a devil-may-care confidence.
So are you brave enough to take up my challenge?
There is no denying white shoes can make your legs look great, but there are a few simple rules to follow if you are tempted to invest in a pair.
To stay away from WAG territory, avoid wearing with acres of flesh on show, and also try to not let your shoes be too overwhelming to the rest of your outfit. I know a few of you may be slightly nervous of wearing them, as some say they should stay left back in the 80s, but I think you may change your mind once you see the elegant, and classy, yes classy, versions on the high street and in the designer boutiques.
So come on girls, embrace the revival and ditch those nude shoes and unimaginative black courts for a sexy pair of white heels.
