A WOMAN who first worked at the school as a teenager on work experience is to become the new chief executive at Columbus School and College in January.
While a student at the former Rainsford School, Ginny Bellard volunteered to help out at the former Woodlands School.
Chelmsford-born Mrs Bellard joined The Hayward School in January 2000 as a class teacher and has risen up through the ranks.
She said: "I was one of Malcolm Reeve's first appointments and we have travelled the Columbus journey together.
"It has been a fantastic experience designing and developing a school which best meets the needs of all our pupils and provides the best education we can possibly offer."
She added: "I'm very excited. It's been a privilege to work with such an inspiring leader as Malcolm, and I aim to continue his work in ensuring Columbus is a centre of excellence for the education of children with special education needs and disabilities."
