A BUILDER from Brentwood has been jailed for eight and a half years for possessing an AK-47 machine gun and conspiring to supply Class A drugs.
Peter Jacovou, 31, from Rollason Way, admitted the charges and was imprisoned with his father Peter Jacovou , 55, from Chadwell Heath.
The older man was locked up for 11 months after pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug and allowing his house to be used for the dealing of drugs.
The pair were part of a seven-man gang who were collectively sentenced to 29 years at Basildon Crown Court for drugs and firearms offences.
The weapon and five kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of £250,000, were seized by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate in east London earlier this year, as part of Operation Abacus.
Speaking after the hearing, senior investigating officer, Det Chief Insp Stuart Smith, described the gang as a "dangerous group".
