ROYAL photographer Arthur Edwards MBE has been busy giving talks across the county about his 38-year career cataloguing the movements of the Royal Family.
The Sun newspaper photographer began with a talk at New Hall School to raise money for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
"An Evening with Arthur Edwards" was held at the Boreham school when an audience of more than 100 people listened to him speak about the time he has spent photographing the Royal Family all around the world.
The event raised over £2,000 for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, which supports local people living with cancer through trials of new treatments and a support centre in Springfield, Chelmsford.
Arthur said: "When Helen talked to The Sun about her cancer, I was asked to take the photos.
"I met her several times after that and I covered her funeral for the paper.
"She was a fabulous woman and so I wanted to be here raising money for her charity to support other people with cancer, like her."
The 72-year-old from Brentwood was also invited to Helena Romanes School in Great Dunmow to share his stories with Year 12 and 13 students.
He treated them to a slide show of a selection of his favourite photographs, from images of a young Prince William with the Queen Mother, to action shots from the summer's London Olympics where he had access-all-areas status for all the ceremonies and sporting events.
Arthur revealed that the Queen has, for several years, requested 6x4 copies of his photographs of her tours for her private diary, and also told students his favourite Royal is Prince Charles.
He also said that when he photographed the Duchess of Cambridge playing hockey at her former school just days before her pregnancy was announced, he had sensed something and even asked her entourage whether she was pregnant.
He told the students: "My mother sacrificed a lot to buy me my first camera and I wanted to prove to her it was worth it. I'm the luckiest photographer in the world. I hope I've been able to give you a little something to make you great photographers."
