TV personality Dom Joly has come in for criticism after writing about a miserable experience filming his latest hidden camera show in Chelmsford.
The former Trigger Happy TV frontman revealed how he struggled to find any "fine and upstanding citizens" while shooting a mock prisoner scene for the upcoming second series of Fool Britannia. No move to Chelmsford on the cards for Dom Joly
But his piece, in yesterday's Independent on Sunday, was picked up by Chelmsford city councillor Paul Bentham, who was subsequently described by Joly as a "councillor jumping on the bandwagon in desperate attempt to be relevant".
Mr Bentham described the contents of the column as a "cheap and generalised dig at our city".
Joly also came under fire from visitors to the Essex Chronicle's Facebook page. Read the Twitter reaction below
