England spinner Monty Panesar has been left out of Essex's four-day game with Glamorgan due to "a time-keeping issue". It is understood that the 32-year-old left-armer missed a team meeting after being named in the side to face the Welshmen at Chelmsford. He was replaced in the side by Tom Craddock - a first appearance of the season for the Yorkshireman. Panesar arrived at Essex on loan last season after leaving Sussex following some off-field problems. But it has not all been plain sailing for the former Northamptonshire man, who has a suspended ECB ban over his head for "potentially threatening and intimidating" behaviour against Worcestershire last season and also fell foul of the umpires against Derbyshire earlier this season. Essex do name Reece Topley in the side for his first four-day appearance of the season, replacing Tanweer Sikander in the side. A club statement said: "Essex Cricket can confirm that Monty Panesar has been disciplined by the club after breaching team rules for timekeeping. "Panesar has subsequently been dropped from the playing squad for the LV= County Championship match versus Glamorgan. "He will available for team selection for the following NatWest T20 Blast match on Friday 6 June against Surrey. "The club will make no further comment on this matter."
