FIREFIGHTERS cut a woman from a car after she was trapped following a crash involving three vehicles on the A12 this morning.
The incident happened at around 7.30am between the junction with Witham south and Hatfield Peverel.
One person was released before the arrival of fire crews but a second was trapped and had to be freed by firefighters.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said that two people suffereing from neck pains were taken to Broomfield Hospital, with what is thought to not be serious injuries.
The collision happened on the southbound carriageway of the A12 with traffic now backing up past the Rivenhall Hotel at Kelvedon.
Police and paramedic teams are at the scene along with fire crews from Chelmsfrod and Witham.
A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called shortly after 7.15am today to an RTC on the southbound carriageway of the A12 at junction 20.
"Three vehicles were involved, a black Ford KA, a blue Ford KA and a grey VW Passat. Fire and ambulance are on the scene, injuries are not looking serious at this stage. Lane two is blocked and lane one is passable."
Motorists have reported delays of up to 13 miles as far Silver End and Marks Tey.
