FIREFIGHTERS across the county will go on strike today - for the fourteenth time since last September.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union will be on strike from 10am to 5pm as part of the continuing dispute over pensions.
A spokesman from Essex Fire and Rescue said: "Essex has strong resilience arrangements in place to cover the county and you should continue to dial 999 in an emergency and working firefighters will respond.
"During periods of reduced fire cover, please help us to help you by being Safer, Slower and Vigilant. Businesses, don't forget to follow up any automatic alarm activation with a phone call."
It follows a 24 hour strike last Thursday (June 12), the longest period so far.
