Chelmsford City have confirmed the signing of Sutton United's Lee Sawyer on loan until November 8.
The 24-year-old started his career at Chelsea and was on the bench for their final game of the 2006/07 season.
The midfielder has also played for league clubs Southend United, Barnet and Coventry City.
The Clarets' manager Mark Hawkes said: "I am very excited about the prospects of working with Lee. You don't often get the opportunity of having a player at 24, who has been on the substitute's bench at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho. He has played league games for Coventry, Barnet and Southend.
"He has got a lot of experience, and you don't often get the chance for our level to have somebody like that involved.
I think our management style looks to get the best out of players, and if we can get the best out of Lee Sawyer then we will have a very good footballer at Chelmsford City."
