HOCKEY: Brentwood Hockey Club's Under-18 Girls' indoor hockey team beat Havering in the Essex Indoor Cup on Thursday evening.
With only these two clubs entering the competition it was a winner takes all match for the title and a slot at the East Finals.
The girls started well, controlling the game creating all the chances but the Havering keeper kept her team in the game with several fine saves including a penalty flick.
Eventually the breakthrough came with Hannah Bloy slotting the ball home to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
With a little more precision in front of goal the girls took control of the game in the second half with two quick goals.
Nicole Hayes had a relatively quiet game in the net for Brentwood but was alert, saving well when Havering created their chances and the girls added two more goals for a 5-0 win.
The girls now progress to the East Finals at Colchester in December along with the Old Loughtonians U16 boys and girls and U18 boys teams.
