Sainsbury's has apologised after a poster appeared in the window of one of its supermarkets appearing to encourage staff to get customers to spend more.
The sign set staff a target to encourage customers to shell out at least 50p on every shopping trip.
The notice, on the Stratford store, was posted on Twitter by passer-by Chris Dodd and has since gone viral on social media.
A spokesman for Sainsbury's said: "We often use posters to make store targets fun and achievable for our colleagues.
"They are intended for colleague areas in the store, but this one was mistakenly put on public display."
The poster has since been taken down.
