LUKE CALLANDER scored a hat-trick as Witham Town beat Bury Town 4-1 at home on Saturday.
There was a hectic start to the game when after just seven minutes Witham keeper Harry Palmer made a tremendous save from a free-kick taken by former Chelmsford City defender Justin Miller.
The ball was cleared to Ellis Brown who raced down the wing and shot past Alex Archer to give Witham the lead.
They did not hold the it for long as within a minute, Miller equalised from close range. However, Witham regained the lead two minutes later when Callander had the last touch in a scramble and back healed the ball in, in the tenth minute.
Callander then put Witham further ahead when after a neat one-two with Brown he took an easy chance on 15 minutes.
Both teams created chances throughout the first half but after all those early goals neither could score.
Witham made it 4-1 five minutes into the second half when Callander completed his hat-trick with a low shot.
That completed the scoring and the game deteriorated with many stoppages by the referee and appeals for penalties waived away.
