CRAIG Edwards admits Billericay Town have had a 'reality check' after suffering four defeats on the spin.
But The Blues' boss remains convinced his side, promoted last season, will stay in Blue Square Bet South after a run of horribly difficult fixtures.
Town lost 2-1 at home to big-spending Dover Athletic on Saturday but remain four points clear of the drop zone ahead of this weekend's home game with Bath City.
"It's like Reading going up to the Premier League and expecting them to beat Man United, Chelsea and Man City," he said.
"We've been on a very good run and we've met some of the best teams in the division and we've fallen a little short but that's where we are, we're going to fall a little short.
"It's been a massive jump and I like we've done admirably and I'm not going to panic.
"If we stay up this year it'll be every bit as big an achievement as winning the Ryman Premier last year and I'm convinced we will."
Although he acknowledges the need to strengthen the squad in 'two or three areas' Edwards won't be making sweeping changes in the coming weeks.
"I was asked after Saturday 'what are you going to change?' The answer is nothing. I could go out and lose six players and bring six in and that's a recipe for disaster."
Having secured Braintree Town stopper Nathan McDonald on a month's loan Edwards is delighted with the addition.
"He's been outstanding," he said. "It's an area in which we've had a problem all year and with respect to the keepers we've had this season he's on a level above them."
On the test versus Bath, he said: "We lost 2-1 there early in the season but I'd like to think we're a little bit stronger now. It's a good challenge for us. Our home record is generally very good and we'll look to see if we can get a win."
Midfield duo Craig Edwards junior (foot) and Glenn Poole (concussion) will undergo later fitness tests ahead of the game.
Forward Marc Charles-Smith will return to training this week after a broken arm.
