Rail services in Essex are continuing to run on all routes into and out of London as heavy snow has still to make an impact across the county.
The blizzard blighting the capital is said to be moving east towards Essex as is expected to hit Chelmsford at about 3pm today.
Tweeters have reported signs of heavy snow reaching Romford. Josh Williams (@williamsjosh_) wrote: "Got off the train at Romford and thought I was at the north pole".
Another user of the micro-blogging website, Sianey Towns (@mynameisSian) wrote: "School has now said they are closing in an hour because of the snow, woo, woo, joys of living in Romford #hellotraffic".
Light snow is currently falling over Brentwood, with children's bookshop owner Natasha Radford (@chickenandfrog) tweeting: "Snow is twirling around prettily, but not settling in Brentwood."
However, Sam vs Food (@SPrever)commented: "Everyone is talking about the snow, yet Brentwood is basically stone dry."
Trains across the county are continuing to run on all routes, according to rail operator Greater Anglia.
The rail firm posted the following statement on its website at midday.
"Today we are pleased to report that trains are running on all routes across our network. We are continuing to monitor the forecast closely throughout the day and will post information about this evening's service later today."
On the roads there is queuing on the M25 between junctions 26 and 27. No reported incidents on the A12.
